COURSE DESCRIPTION
Marketing concepts in the areas of retailing and wholesaling. Special emphasis is given to consumer needs and the relationship of the consumer with the marketing system as a whole. Distribution methods, costs, pricing, buying habits and motivation are covered.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS FOR METHODs OF EVALUATION AND GAIN
Evaluation of student performance and gain is determined from results of written and computer based performance tests, simulations, oral presentations, and portfolios.

Student competence is achieved by obtaining a minimum of 75% on assessments
INCOMPLETE WORK will be in accordance to Window Rock High School Policy.

A student shall have 10 days after the end of a grading period to make up incomplete grades. Additional time may be granted by teacher approval. Failure to make up incomplete work will result in a grade of “F” for assignment.
Whenever a student is absent due to illness, she/he may have as many days to make up worked missed as the number of days she/he was absent. Work missed by the student due to unexcused absence may not be made up for credit. Extended projects (term papers, etc.) will be due on the assigned date unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor.

Will be in accordance to Arizona Attendance Law and Window Rock High School Attendance Policy. A student must attend class the lawful amount of days in order to receive consideration of credit in a year course. A waiver of this policy may be considered for absences due to extended or chronic illness with a certified excuse from a physician. Students not meeting the attendance requirements for a class will receive no credit in the course.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
Cheating is a dishonest act. Those persons who cheat are guilty of a serious offense. The grade of 0% will automatically be given for the day’s work. If this continues, a student may be given a short suspension or lose credit for the quarter. Additional penalties apply under the Window Rock High School Discipline Code. In accordance with real-life business situations, however, most minor quizzes and assignments encourage cooperative completion.
CELL PHONE POLICY
Students’ cell phones, pagers, and other electronic communication devices must be turned off during class. Violation of this will result in confiscation of the device for the duration of the class and possibly the entire school year.
PERSONAL MUSIC & ENTERNAINMENT DEVICES
Personal Music and/or Entertainment devices may not violate school policy. Violation of this policy will result in confiscation of the device for the duration of the class. Recurring violations may be referred for more serious disciplinary action.
HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
Will be in accordance with Window Rock High School and OSHA rules and policies. Student discussions or behavior regarding violence, discrimination of any sort, or other threatening behavior will result in immediate referral for discipline.

The use of computers and relevant software including the internet is a required component of this course. Computer use will be limited to specific coursework. Inappropriate use of computers (Non-course; i.e., video games, videos, music, pornography, general web surfing, etc.) will result in suspension of computer privileges for the remainder of the class. More severe abuse of computer use (violent displays, obscene content, pornography, etc.) is unlikely due to technological restraints. In their event, however, detention, short suspensions, or other stronger disciplinary measures will be assigned in accordance with the Window Rock High School Discipline Policy.
